If you haven't done so already, please sign the online petition to get MCoG on DVD in English:

We need this on DVD!

Is there some sort of petition like this also for the version with Dutch subtitles? Anyone knows where to find it?

The English DVD would probably have all the different language subtitles on it.

It depends which company releases it, and where in the world.
And I signed that years ago But we can still hope. An officially released (hopefully English version) MCOG DVD would be awesome.

How could they release Ulysses 31 on DVD and not MCoG?

Is that Petition over a year old.
Have they tried sending it in yet, I'm sure they're not likely to get any more people to sign up (you never know)
I would love to see MCOG out on DVD, it would be a dream come true.
And yeah I was surprised that they have released Ulysses 31 on DVD and not MCOG.

I just hope there's still an English master copy out there somewhere.

I'm also searching for some Dutch subtitles, will the DVD's ever be on Belgium markets?

It wouldn't be fair if they didn't release MCoG on English DVD's. Count of Flanders, where you from? I'm from Mechelen.

By my understanding the no one knows who holds the copyright to the English version. This causes slight problems when it comes to them submitting this petition. On top of that it has also been mentioned that no one knows if an English master of the series has survived. The sum of these two problems is that we are unlikely to see an official English version anytime soon. This is unfortunate as I am amoungst those who would love to see an English release and the series is popular enough to warrant one. Indeed it is more popular than a lot of the other cartoons from the 80s that have now been released on DVD. It is worth making a note of the fact that the show has been release in both Frenchm German and Japanese. The later is hard to track down as it is discontinued but the former two are still easily found. Though the quality of the French releases varies drastically. As a rough rule of thumb with the official French version the more discs the better. None of these official sets or the unofficial English releases contain subtitles in any languages. Although a group of people on another board (that includes me) have started a project to make the series some English subtitles and a project to make Polish subtitles is even further on (been carried out by And-or from this forum). I have signed that petition and would love to think it will help. As for further releases I would be suprised to see it in any other countries anytime soon.
EDIT: If you want to try making some Dutch subtitles yourself (or as part of a team) we can probably supply you with English transcripts of the series to translate. We are slowly drawing them up and I can post the links here to them if people want them for such projects. We even know someone who would probably be happy to add them to his unofficial DVD set.

I might sticky this as DVD releases and petitions have appeared as topics in the guestbook again.
There are a fair amount of signatures on there now. Possibly not a huge amount considering the general population of the countries the signatures are spread through, but then again, not everyone in those countries is aware of the petition and as pointed out MCOG is already considerably more popular than many 80's cartoons currently being released on DVD.
Let's hope some company somewhere is interested enough in releasing it to attempt tracking down whoever owns the legal copyright and hopefully the master copy as well.

even though a dvd has not yet been released, at least it's good to know that the entire series is available on youtube thanks to an absolute legend by the name of JWFau who took the time to contribute the entire series piece by piece.

I've suggested a few people check youtube for the episodes, but wasn't aware a complete set was around on it. It's useful to know. Thanks for the link
Edit: I'm tempted to mention the link on the main site, although, a lot of MCOG Weekly's visitors wouldn't be able to access it. One of the reasons I keep uploading each episode in parts is because dial up users can access it that way, when other options like youtube or bittorrent are almost impossible.
